Follow the steps below to determine if you can connect to the same wireless network as your printer

Step 1

Find out the name of the network your printer is on

On the front panel display of your printer, select the wireless button to show the name of the network, aka SSID, that the printer is connected to. On printers without a display print the Wi-Fi report.

Step 2

Connect your mobile device to the same network as your printer

From your mobile device, go to your Wi-Fi settings, find and connect to the same network and you are ready to print.

Step 3

Unable to connect to the printer's network?

If your printer is not network connected or you cannot access the printer's network, you may still be able to connect directly to your printer via HP wireless direct with your mobile device.

You should be able to use the full version as well. If you have a thumbdrive, download software to that and proceed with setup when finished. Set the compatibilty options on the HP setup application to Vista, and run as administrator.

To set compatibility, right click on software download and select properties.

Select Compatibility Tab

Check Run this program in Compatibility Mode

Scroll down and check Run this program as an Administrator

Click Apply, Ok

Execute installation


Try printing a test page.

Check firewall settings. Is it blocking printer?

1. Clear Printer Spooler files and enable the spooler service on Windows 7

a. Click Start, type 'Services.msc' (without the quotation marks) in the open box and click OK.

b. Double-click 'Printer Spooler' in the Services list.

c. Click Stop and click OK.

d. Click Start, type '%WINDIR%system32spoolprinters' in the open window, and delete all files in this folder.

e. Click Start, type 'Services.msc' (without the quotation marks) in the open box and click OK.

f. Double-click 'Printer Spooler' in the Services list.

g. Click on Start. In the Startup Type list, make sure that 'Automatic' is selected and click OK.

2. Temporarily turn off firewall and antivirus program on the machine for a test.
