This software updates the HP scanjet 8200 series digital flatbed scanners firmware to version 1.06. This firmware update resolves communication errors seen when scanning high resolution slides or negatives from the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th positions in the TMA (transparent media adapter).
This problem may also result in 'The HP imaging device could not be initialized…' errors on the computer. You may also see a 'DMA Timeout' error on the front panel display on the scanner.
Only install this update if your scanner exhibits any of the problems described above.
IMPORTANT: After installing the update, the software will prompt you to shut down the computer. You must allow the computer to shut down to complete the firmware update process.
Once the computer is shut down, disconnect the power cable from the scanner. Wait a few moments (about 10 seconds) and reconnect the power cable. Only once that is done, should you turn the computer back on.
Once the computer is back on, the firmware update should be completed. If you continue to receive any of the above errors after updating the firmware, a hardware failure could be the cause. Please contact HP Customer Care for further assistance.
